The Chesterton Girls Track team competed in three events at the IHSAA State Track and Field Championships at Indiana University in Bloomington on Saturday.

The Trojans top finishers were juniors Marissa Crafton and Kelley Freeman with 12th place finishes. Crafton logged a jump of 17-feet in the long jump, while Freeman cleared 10-feet in the pole vault.

“It was a good experience for them and hopefully will help them when they get down here next year,” Chesterton coach Steve Kearney said. “It was Marissa’s second time down here and I think she was more prepared this time around and next year we’ll get her to the medal stand.”

Senior Mallory Przybylinski finished 20th overall in the 200 with a time of 26.42 seconds.

“Mallory ran a great race and really improved on her speed,” Kearney said.
