The Chesterton baseball team gave Crown Point all it could handle on Friday
afternoon, but the undefeated Bulldogs scored four runs in the sixth inning
and escaped with an 8-6 Duneland Athletic Conference victory.
Crown Point scored to take a 1-0 lead with a solo run in the bottom of the
second before the Trojans added a solo run of their own in the third. Jack
Wilson doubled and scored on an RBI single from Danny Detmar.
The Bulldogs (9-0, 5-0) again took the lead in the third with a solo run, but
Chesterton again answered in the fourth inning with back-to-back home runs
from Zack Novak and Jeremy Ross.
Again CP took the lead with a two-run home run by Jordan Lindeman and, again,
the Trojans (7-3, 3-2) retook the lead with a two-run double by John Thanos
in the top of the sixth.
Crown Points bats stayed hot as they used a couple of walks and three hits
to tally four runs and put the Trojans away.
