Back to Front Page

The Chesterton baseball team gave Crown Point all it could handle on Friday afternoon, but the undefeated Bulldogs scored four runs in the sixth inning and escaped with an 8-6 Duneland Athletic Conference victory.

Crown Point scored to take a 1-0 lead with a solo run in the bottom of the second before the Trojans added a solo run of their own in the third. Jack Wilson doubled and scored on an RBI single from Danny Detmar.

The Bulldogs (9-0, 5-0) again took the lead in the third with a solo run, but Chesterton again answered in the fourth inning with back-to-back home runs from Zack Novak and Jeremy Ross.

Again CP took the lead with a two-run home run by Jordan Lindeman and, again, the Trojans (7-3, 3-2) retook the lead with a two-run double by John Thanos in the top of the sixth.

Crown Point’s bats stayed hot as they used a couple of walks and three hits to tally four runs and put the Trojans away.
