Elyse Stasil did
everything right for 16 holes Saturday.
Stasil would bogey
the 8th and 9th holes, her final two of the day, at Praire View Golf Club
and finished runner-up at the IHSAA Girls Golf State Finals.
“I played really
good golf for 16 holes,” Stasil, a junior, said. “I was clicked in.”
Stasil made par on
the first nine holes she played on Saturday and then made another on No. 1.
After making her first bogey on 2, she birdied the par 5 third hole and made
another on the par 3 sixth.
“At the turn, she
told me she made nine straight pars,” Chesterton coach Jordan Nelson said.
“I told her that’s boring golf and boring golf is good. It’s too bad she
finished with the two bogeys. Being runner-up is a great accomplishment, and
she’s only a junior. It’ll light a fire for her next year.”

North won the team title with a 618 score, while Westfield (620), Columbus
North (623), Zionsville (638) and Carmel (655) finished in the top five.
Andrea Hanas (89-85), Cara Kroeger (91-83), Lexy Hanas (95-97) and Caylee
Casbon (97-97) rounded out the scoring.
“Our team included
four seniors that have accomplished a lot in their careers,” Nelson said.
“They gave it their all in their last high school meet.”
