Duneland Swim Club gathers 28 medals at Age Group State Meet

The Duneland Swim Club picked up 28 medals on its way to another top 10 finish in the Age-Group State Championship held at the IUPUI Natatorium July 24-26.

It was the seventh consecutive top 10 finish for the Duneland Swim Club.

Duneland broke through with individual medals for 10-year-old Isabella Smith who finished with top eight results in three events. The 9-10 relay of Smith, Madelin Billings, Anna Hunter and Jordan Alders also finished eighth overall in the 200 Medley Relay.

The 9-10 boysí Alejandro Kincaid received six individual medals, including gold in the 100 Fly. Kincaid also participated in a relay with Zander Fish, Joel Raines and Alex Henderson that finished eighth in the 200 Free Relay.

Dunelandís 11-12 girls relay, consisting of Abi Raines, Olivia Kroeger, Sophia Fill and Abby Henderson, reached the podium with an eighth place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.

Individually, Rained was fifth in the 100 Free, while Kroeger was fifth in the 100 Fly. Gill, Henderson and Hannah Stewart also swam events for Duneland.

The 11-12 boys relay team of Andrew Alders, Ryan Kendall, Gabe Kroeger and Carter Casbon landed a fifth place finish in the 200 Free Relay.

Alders and Kroeger each brought homer multiple individual medals. Alders finished in the top eight four times, while Kroeger took home six medals that included golds in the 50 and 100 Fly. Also participating individually were Kendall, Jack Wheele, Connor Casbon, Carter Casbon, Eric Carlson and Hunter Carlson.

Dunelandís Lauryn Kallay and Sam Kravitz each medaled in the 13-14 age division. Kallay took sixth in the 200 and 400 Free, while Kravitz finished third in the 50 Free.

Other 13-14 swimmers included Lily Adney, Katie Craig, Jennifer Gillen, Alexandra Smith, Nathan Carlson, Ben Fickel, Nick Hanas, Bobby Kallay, Danny Schmiegel, Noah VanNevel and Ethan Wing.

The Duneland Swim Club is coached by Jim Voss and he is assisted by Christy Kallay, Mindi Billings and Gabrielle Rapin.
