The Michigan City Wolves forfeited seven of 14 matches and the Chesterton Trojans won six of the other seven en route to a 75-6 Duneland Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday.

“It’s hard to wrestle a team that doesn’t come with a full team,” Chesterton coach Chris Joll said. “We practiced this morning and before the meet. We’re trying to wrestle right through this and get ready for Valpo and DAC.”

Ryley Harlow started the night with a fall victory at 285 over Dan Lemon (1:59) before the first Wolves forfeit of the night.

Kaitlin Loehmer dominated her way to a 16-0 tech fall over Dee Collins at 113.

“Kaitlin wrestled a great match,” Joll said. “She took him down, turned him a couple of times and just beat him up. Good for her.”

Two more forfeits led to a 13-4 victory for Jack Davison and a pin win for Hunter Rucklos at 138.

“Jack did a nice job of recovering against a tough guy,” Joll said. “Hunter did a nice job of staying in his match the whole time.”

Sawyer Hallas found a fall at the 3:10 mark against John Geese sandwiched between a pair of forfeits.

“It’s hard to wrestle against guys who don’t respond to what you do the way you want them to,” Joll said. “Sawyer’s guy didn’t react the way we wanted so we just had to be a better athlete and put him on his back.”

After Josh Rudd got the only victory of the night for Michigan City, Tyler Gillespie picked up the last win of the night for the Trojans.

Two more Michigan City forfeits set the final score.

“I was a little upset about the way they reacted to beating a guy that got hurt two seconds into the match,” Joll said. “We could have took them down and let them up all night and embarrassed them if we had wanted to. That kind of bothers me.”
