CHS volleyball team beats Merrillville

The Chesterton volleyball team picked up a 27-25, 19-25, 25-20, 26-24 Duneland Athletic Conference victory at Merrillville on Tuesday night.

Offensively, Meghan Gaffigan led the Trojans with 15 kills, while Maggie Vrahoretis added 10 kills. Emma Ekblaw recorded nine kills and Katie Nelson tallied eight kills.

Vrahoretis also dished out a team-high 23 assists. Grace Newman dealt out 11 helpers.

Defensively, Gaffigan led the way with 25 digs. Nelson (19), Eva Everett (15) and Greta Tilden (12) also reached double figures.

At the net, Ekblaw had six blocks and Ella Rodriguez added four blocks.

On the service line, Vrahoretis had three aces with Nelson adding two aces of her own.

The Trojans return to the court on Thursday when they travel to LaPorte to take on the Slicers.
