CHS Volleyball sweeps Portage

The Chesterton volleyball team had little trouble in picking up a 25-17, 25-8, 25-21 Duneland Athletic Conference victory over Portage on Tuesday night.

Offensively, the Trojans were led by Meghan Gaffigan with 19 kills and Katie Nelson with 10 kills. Emma Ekblaw added eight kills, while Maggie Vrahoretis tallied six kills.

Vrahoretis also dished out a team-high 24 assists. Grace Newman recorded 11 assists.

Defensively, Gaffigan had 16 digs with Greta Tilden adding 12 digs and Nelson tallying 11 digs. Vrahoretis had eight digs in the victory.

On the service line, Eva Everett, Gaffigan and Nelson each had two aces. At the net, Ekblaw had three blocks and Reese Czarniecki had two blocks.

Chesterton returns to the court tonight when they travel to Highland for a 5 p.m. JV start.
