CHS Volleyball falls in 5 at Valparaiso

The Chesterton volleyball team dropped a tough 25-19, 14-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10 Duneland Athletic Conference decision at Valparaiso on Tuesday night.

Offensively, Meghan Gaffigan led the Trojans with 23 kills, while Katie Nelson added 13. Maggie Vrahoretis tallied six kills and Ella Rodriguez had five kills.

Vrahoretis also dished out a team-best 39 assists.

Defensively, Nelson had a team-high 17 digs with AJ Devereaux and Rodriguez each adding 15 digs. Eve Everett tallied 12 digs, while Gaffigan had 10 digs.

At the net, Rodriguez had six blocks and Emma Ekblaw had four blocks. Reese Czarniecki and Gaffigan had three blocks each.

On the service line, Vrahoretis tallied three aces and Nelson connected for two.

The Trojans return to the court on Thursday when they travel to Crown Point. The JV game is set for a 5 p.m. start.
