CHS Volleyball beats Portage

The Chesterton volleyball team picked up a 26-24, 25-19, 25-21 Duneland Athletic Conference victory at Portage on Thursday night.

Offensively, Meghan Gaffigan led the Trojans with 10 kills, while Emma Ekblaw had eight kills. Reese Czarniecki tallied six kills and Brooke Smith added five kills.

Maggie Vrahoretis led CHS with 13 assists and Grace Newman added 11 helpers.

Defensively, Katie Nelson had a career-high 36 digs with Vrahoreties adding eight. Ekblaw recorded seven digs, while Gaffigan and Greta Tilden had six digs each.

At the net, Ella Rodriguez had four blocks with Gaffigan adding three blocks.

On the service line, Vrahoretis had four aces and Eve Everett had three aces.
