The Chesterton girls soccer team pitched another shutout with a 4-0 non-conference victory over Northridge on Saturday.

“This was an opponent we looked forward to facing because they’re a top 20 team every year,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “We really were looking forward to the test.”

Playing without leading goal scorer Addy Joiner who was taking the SAT, the Trojans didn’t miss a beat as Sophie DeRuntz filled the vacated spot and scored a pair of goals.

“Sophie took advantage of the opportunity and scored two first half goals,” Forgey said. “She did a great job of stepping in and taking control of that spot.”

Kaitlyn Kogl added a goal to make it 3-0 before Joiner got on the field and scored to set the final score.

“Addy didn’t arrive until about 12 minutes to go and immediately went out and scored,” Forgey said. It was her 28th of the season and 106th of her career.”

Gina Geenen (2) and Annalisa Hackett dished out assists in the victory.

The Trojans wrap-up the regular season on Tuesday when they host LaPorte. The JV game is set for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
