CHS Girls fall at Kankakee Valley

The Chesterton girls basketball team fell behind 20-9 after one period of play and never recovered in dropping a 61-47 non-conference decision at Kankakee Valley on Monday night.

The lead increased to 40-23 at the half before the Trojans mounted a third quarter comeback. Chesterton pulled within 46-35, but never got closer than nine points.

Ashley Craycraft led the Trojans with 22 points, while Marney Sisson added nine points.

Rounding out the scoring were Haley Moore (7 points), Molly Slatcoff (4 points), Nalani Malackowski (3 points) and Emma Schmidt (2 points).

Chesterton returns to the court on Friday when they head to Hanover Central to take on the Wildcats. The JV game is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Chesterton junior varsity dropped a 40-34 decision at Kankakee Valley on Monday night.

Offensively, Hollie Skoczek led the Trojans with nine points, while Emma Pape added eight points.

Rounding out the scoring were Carley Balas (7 points), Lauren Davis (5 points), Geneva Nelson (2 points), Sophia Raffin (2 points) and Tori Gerhardt (1 point).
