The Chesterton girls cross country team put its top six runners within a minute of each other, but it was only good for a fourth place finish at the Carmel Classic on Saturday.

Carmel took the team title with 18 points, while Terre Haute North (51), Indianapolis Pike (62) and Chesterton (93) followed.

Sophomore Melanie Buckmaster led the Trojans to the line in 15th place (21:18.1). She was followed in the top seven by Nora Schultz (17th, 21:24.0), Haley Cushway (19th, 21:38.3), Kim St. Pierre (22nd, 21:43.0), Linda Graff (25th, 21:57.3), Molly Stauffer (26th, 22:05.9) and Katie Haggerty (29th, 23:37.7).
