CHS boys soccer team ties South Ben St. Joseph

The Chesterton boys soccer team remained undefeated on the season, but didn’t get a win in playing South Bend St. Joseph’s to a scoreless tie on Saturday.

“We had a hard time scoring against a very stingy defense,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “Most of the game was played in the midfield. It was just one of those ugly Saturday games.”

The Trojans fired eight shots on goal without finding the back of the net and senior goalkeeper Doug Filipek stopped both shots sent by St. Joe.

“ I felt like we should have broke through and put one on the scoreboard,” Sensibaugh said. “We certainly weren’t looking for a tie on Saturday, but sometimes that’s the way soccer goes.”

Chesterton returns to the field on Wednesday when they host Culver Academy. The JV match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff.

Chesterton 0, SB St. Joe 0

SB St. Joe - Surf Sadowey 8 saves.
