Chesterton Volleyball wins 5th straight

The Chesterton volleyball team won its fifth straight match and picked up its first Duneland Athletic Conference victory with a 25-12, 25-9, 25-11 win over Merrillville on Tuesday.

Offensively, Paige Seely led the Trojans with four kills, while Ella Whitmore, Kylie Vendramin, Taylor Bowser and Ginger Hedrick each had three kills. Maggie Vrahoretis and Caroline Parks tallied two kills each.

Olivia Smilgius and Ella Whitmore each dished out seven assists with Maggie Vrahoretis adding four helpers.

Defensively, Lorann Lombardini led the way with five digs, while Sammy Devereaux added three digs. Whitmore and Bowser each recorded two digs in the win.

On the service line, Parks and Ariel Rohe had three aces as Whitmore and Bowser added two each.

At the net, Hedrick and Rohe recorded two blocks each.

The Trojans return to the court on Thursday when they host LaPorte. The JV game begins at 5 p.m.
