Three team from the newly launched Chesterton Boys Lacrosse went head to
head against Illinois’ Tinley Park and St. Rita over the weekend.
The U11 team, captained by Reuben Coslov, Grant Gilbertson, Josh Adkins and
John Koch played a strong game before losing 8-7 in an overtime shootout.
Top scorers included Adkins, Vince Walton, Gilbertson and Connor McCall.
Goalkeeping duties were taken on by Aaron Koch.
The U13 dominated the Tinley Park Bulldogs in an 11-1 near shutout.
Ben Staubus and Sam Westergren led the team with multiple goals each. Other
scoring contributions came from Mason Witt, Jack Masten and Nolan Walton.
The defense, led by goalkeeper Kyle Bucy, was aided from the play of Brock
Hurst, Max Martin and David Gerth. Ethan Staubus also had a key defensive
Against St. Rita, the U15 team dropped a 3-2 shootout overtime decision.
Trailing 2-0 in the third quarter, Chesterton got goals from Austyn
Lubinecki and Dane Chance to tie the game at 2-all.
Bucy again handled goalkeeping duties.
Chesterton’s first home game of the season is on April 20 with games
beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 3 p.m. Home games are played at CMS
right next to the museum.
