The Chesterton boys golf team remained perfect in Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 156-182 victory over LaPorte Tuesday on the Lake Course at Sand Creek Country Club.

“We played pretty well,” Chesterton coach John Sparks said. “We seem to be avoiding the big numbers lately and that’s good. We’re getting better and our course management is there.”

Ryan Grassel led the Trojans with an ever par 36. Kyle Grassel followed with a one-over 37.

“We switched to the Lake Course and we haven’t played it a lot,” Sparks said. “Ryan and Kyle were really solid and that’s nice to see.”

Josh Kalita fired a 40, while Steve Wuletich (43) and Nick Stasil (43) rounded out the scoring.

“Josh, Steve and Nick had solid efforts on a course they don’t know that well,” Sparks said. “We still need to make sure we get that third and fourth score in the 30’s or 70’s. That’s what we’re going to need to get where we want to go.”

The Trojans return to the course on Thursday when they travel to Michigan City to take on the host Wolves and Lake Central beginning at 4 p.m.
