Chesterton Boys Golf wins 51st Lou Iaconetti Invitational at Palmira

The Chesterton boys golf team turned in its second best team score of the season in picking up a 20-shot victory in the 51st annual Lou Iaconetti Invitational at the Palmira Golf Club.

The Trojans were led by Nick Stasil and Pat Herrod’s one-over par 73’s. Stasil beat Herrod in a playoff for second overall. Crown Point’s Nick Grubnich took medalist honors with an even par 72.

Stasil was five-over par through his first six holes before playing the final 12 holes in four-under.

Kyle Grassel fired a 76 and Ryan Grassel shot 77 to round out the Trojans scoring.

The Chesterton boys golf team improved to 15-0 overall and a perfect 12-0 in the Duneland Athletic Conference with a victory over Crown Point and Portage at Robbinhurst on Friday.

Ryan Grassel fired a one-under par 33 to lead the Trojans. Josh Kalita shot 35, while Kyle Grassel (37), Pat Herrod (39) and Nick Stasil (44) followed.
