Porter residents Salvador Mujica and John Sakelaris completed the Ironman
Louisville on Sunday, Aug. 28.
The Ironman is a triathlon comprised of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and
a 26.2 mile run. All athletes have 17 hours to complete the race.
Mujica and Sakelaris both swim with the Duneland Masters under the coaching
of Lisa Whitaker. Run training takes place on the trails of the Indiana
Dunes, while cycling takes place on the local country roads.
The race was Mujica’s first Ironman and Sakelaris’ second.
