Duneland’s upcoming fireworks show at the Indiana Dunes State Park is
getting a boost of support from the county.
North Porter County Commissioner John Evans on Tuesday proposed using $5,000
out of his district’s share of the County Economic Development Income Tax
toward the fireworks show.
Commissioners Robert Harper and Carole Knoblock agreed with the request.
The fireworks show is being organized by the town of Porter, which has asked
for assistance from other towns, businesses, and community groups toward the
estimated $30,000 price tag.
Chesterton and Burns Harbor are among those chipping in, by contributing
$5,000 and $1,000 respectively.
The show is set for July 1.
