The Porter County
Community Foundation recently announced the recipients of its first round of
2015 Community Fund grants. The Foundation awarded more than $71,000 in
grants to 10 local nonprofit organizations to help fund programs, supplies
and equipment.
“We see the
difference we are making in people’s lives each and every day,” said Barb
Young, Foundation President. “Through our grant making, we are able to help
our nonprofit partners provide and expand services to benefit thousands of
residents in Porter County each year.”
The first round of
2015 grant recipients are Challenger Learning Center of NW Indiana,
Dunebrook, Family House, First Contact, Housing Opportunities, Porter County
Parks & Recreation, Purdue University North Central, Rebuilding Together
- Hebron, Rebuilding Together Ð Portage, and Rebuilding
Together Ð Valparaiso.
In addition to the
Community Fund grants, more than $12,000 in grants from the Porter Health &
Wellness Fund were awarded to Mental Health America of Porter County and
Valparaiso Family YMCA.
Annually, the
Foundation distributes nearly $2 million in scholarships and grants to
nonprofit organizations. The Foundation inspires giving and engages the
