The Porter County Parks and Recreation Board will meet for its regular monthly meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Room 205 of the County Administration Building, 155 Indiana Ave.

On the agenda, Parks Superintendent Walter Lenckos and Board Attorney David Hollenbeck will present a memorandum of understanding for the board to consider regarding the use of property owned by the Kankakee Valley Historical Society.

Lenckos said the MOU lists duties that the parks department will agree to perform to assist the society, such as helping out at festivals. In exchange, the parks will gradually be able to access approximately 150 acres of property on the north bank of the Kankakee River near Baums Bridge Rd. and CR 1050S in Pleasant Twp.

The board will also recognize retired park board member Ruth Jarnecke for her years of service to the parks department.

There will be a staff report from Lenckos as well as reports from various committees, the Northern Indiana Historical Power Association and the Porter County Parks Foundation.
