Grand Champion:
Amy Short, of Jackson Volunteers, will
be going to the Indiana State Fair with her small engine project. The
project included a small engine, display board, and green notebook.
Champion candlemakers:
Andrea Glasser, (second from
right) shows her Grand Champion light house candle at the 4-H Exhibit Hall.
Glasser, who went home with numerous awards, is pictured with fellow members
of the Jackson Volunteer 4-H Club. From the left are Audrey Cole, Reserve
Champion Beginners, Emily Cole, Champion Intermediate division, Glasser and
Autumn Cole, blue ribbon, A grade.
4-H Artists:
Lakeshore Drifters show their artwork.
Pictured left to right are Erin Caldwell with her painting entitled “Foal in
Field,” Rickie Olson with his charcoal drawing of Kokopelli, and Alex Olson
with his charcoal drawing of American Indian Pottery. Erin and Rickie earned
A grades and Alex received A Honor Champion.

Cherish Brown standing below her drawing that received an A Honor grade and
Katie Balich holding her drawing of a horse which received a B grade at the
Porter County Fair.
Reserve Champion:
Chris Krause, of Jackson Volunteers
4-H Club is pictured with his extension cord that won Reserve Champion in an
electricity project. He is a third year member of the club.
Champions:
Pictured left to right are Jeanne Bullock who
won Reserve Champion for both her Royal Sheep and Boar Doe Goat and Jessica
Chaplin, who won Champion in the Lightweight competition for Sheep. Chaplin
is a 10 year member of 4-H, which means she has aged-out of 4-H competition.
She is a freshman at Purdue North Central.
Middle Row left to right:
Grand Champion:
Caryn Glasgow is Grand Champion in
Pre-Vet at the Porter County Fair. A member of Lakeshore Drifters, she also
is Champion in Child Development and received a A grade in Dog Obedience and
A Showmanship and an A grade in Collections.
4-H Photographers:
Jackson Volunteer 4-H Club members
won ribbons for their photography entries at the Porter County Fair.
Pictured, left to right, are Kate O’Rourke, B grade, Jennifer Walsworth, B
grade and Matt Walsworth, A grade. Front: Isaac Bensing, A grade and first
year member.
Reserve Champion: Amber Wineman, dressed in her Western
outfit, is a first year 4-H member who won Reserve Grand Champion for
Beginner Horsemanship and A Honors in Beginner Showmanship. She is a member
of Jackson Volunteers.
Champions in 4-H Explorers: Alyssa Szafaz is champion in
her Dinosaur project and Cody Hootman is champion in his Farm Animal
project. Szafas is a second year member and Hootman is in his first year.
Spike the Bearded Dragon:
Lori Bucheit got Reserve
Champion in Herpetology for her pet Spike, a Bearded Dragon at the Porter
County Fair. Bucheit also received a Reserve Champion award for her dog
Holiday and a third place for her dog Ankar. She and her horse Cobi
participated in Western Pleasure in Horse Competition.
Headed for State Fair:
Patrick Glasgow is Grand Champion
in the Flower Project. His arrangement will go to the State Fair for
competition. Glasgow, a 5th year member of Lakeshore Drifters 4-H Club, also
took Champion in Latchhook, Honor in Collections and A grade in Leather.
Bottom Row left to right:
Dinosaurs, Whales, Dolphins and Legos:
Pictured left to
right are Will Levi and Daniel Ronjak, who entered the Explorer Division in
4-H. Levi’s wooden dinosaur can be seen behind him and Ronjak is holding his
Lego project. They are affiliated with the Lakeshore Drifter 4-H Club.
Rocket Champion:
Paul Ronjak received Champion rating in
the Aerospace-Rocket program of the Porter County Fair. He is a member of

4-H Champions: Pictured left to right are Britta Ringas
and Aris Ringas who won top awards in at the Porter County Fair. Britta was
named Reserve Grand Champion in Sewing and took A Honor for her red-white
and blue star pants. She also got A Honor in Leather and Candles. Aris’
pajamas took Champion in Sewing, Reserve Champion in Candles and A Honor in
Cake Decorating.
Champion in lots of projects: Elizabeth Jones, 11 year
old is pictured with Norma, a Senior Dairy Calf, that won Reserve Champion
at the Porter County Fair. She also took third place for a Fall Sr. Calf,
and 5th for a Jr. Calf. Second place in Showmanship for Dairy Cows. The cows
belong to John Sanders of Liberty Twp. She took Grand Champion in the Rabbit
project for her rabbit poster, Best of Breed for her Rinelanders, and Best
Opposite Sex. Her Checker Giant rabbits were Champion and Reserve Champion.
She also received Champion for Agility for her dog Storm, a Black Lab;
Champion and Reserve Champion for her education poster and earned an A grade
for Shooting Sports, an A for oil painting. She is a member of Lakeshore
Drifters 4-H Club.
Reserve Champion: Anthony Zeese is pictured with his
Reserve Champion Weather II poster. The Westchester Intermediate School
student is a member of Lakeshore Drifters 4-H Club.
