Feeding time: Abbi Koski of Chesterton feeds a goat a much appreciated carrot at the Phillips Petting Zoo Monday at the Porter County Fair. Koski was celebrating her third birthday yesterday at the Fair.

The Leja sisters: (left to right) Jill, 7, Ashley, 13, and Samantha, 10, show off their horse ‘Spirit’ Monday afternoon in the horse barn at the Porter County Fair. The Leja’s are from Liberty Township and are all members of the Liberty Hot Shots 4-H Club. Ashley, who entered Spirit for the first time in the Junior Division Horse Trail competition this year, will be an eighth grader at Chesterton Middle School.

Tough task: Natalie Taylor, 17, of Liberty Township participates with her horse ‘TK’ in the gate exercise in the Horse Trail Senior Division competition Monday at the Porter County Fair. Taylor, who leases her horse from family friends Libby and Bill Sanders of Liberty Township, is a member of the Jackson Volunteers 4-H Club. This is Taylor’s eighth year of competition.

Taylor, who has participated in the Trail competition for eight years, is a member of the Jackson Volunteers 4-H Club.
