Friends in 4-H: Maggie Sharpe (left), a recent CHS graduate and Kelly Starcevich, also a recent CHS grad, have become good friends through their years in 4-H. Here, the two pause before competing in the ring in the llama obstacle course Friday evening. Sharpe will attend Purdue University this fall, while Starcevich will attend Butler University. The Porter County Fair continues all this week at the Porter County Expo Center.

Obstacle course: For those in the llama project at the Porter County 4-H Fair, the obstacle course is a primary contest. A llama and its handler must negotiate a variety of challenges, like climbing some steps, weaving in and out among safety cones, backing up a certain distance and walking through a tunnel, as Annie Sharpe and her llama Prissy are shown here doing. Annie is an 8th grader at CMS and a member of the Westchester Wombears. (Tribune photo by Margaret L. Willis)

Leapin’ llama: 4-Hers in the llama project compete in an obtacle course as part of their project. Here Autumn Cole leads her llama, Katarina, over a jump in Friday night’s competition. Autumn, 12, is a member of the Jackson Volunteers. The Porter County Fair continues all this week at the Porter County Expo Center.
