Best of Show: Elisabeth Jones, 15, earned Best of Show
with her Checkered Giant Junior Doe rabbit project. The Chesterton High
School freshman was very busy leading up to Porter County Fair, completing
projects in Dog, Dairy Cow, Veterinary Science, Small Engines and Junior
Leader.
On to State: Andrea Fadel shows off two of her projects
at the Porter County Fair. Her project on Eating Disorders earned a Reserve
Grand Champion ribbon and will be forwarded to state competition at the
Indiana State Fair. She also did a cat project on Hepatic Lipidosis, earning
an Honorable Mention. Fadel, 15, is a member of the Liberty Hotshots and is
a Chesterton High School sophomore.
Percheron paces: Sarah Martinek, 15, puts her Percheron
mare Bess, also 15, through her paces before hooking her up for the cart
class Saturday afternoon. 4-H Draft horse competition took place in the
horse and pony arena all day Saturday. Martinek, a Chesterton High School
sophomore, won Grand Champion Showmanship earlier in the day with Rainah, a
six year-old Quarter Horse-Belgian Gypsy Draft horse.
Tuxedo cat: Alyssa Schroeder,
10, has a relaxed smile as she waits with her cat Samson, a four year-old
short hair gray tuxedo cat for the first round of cat judging Saturday at
the Porter County Fair. Schroeder is a member of the Liberty Hotshots 4-H
Club and will attend Liberty Intermediate School in the fall.
Final comb-out: Eris Ringas, 15, gives her cat Tiger, 1
and 1/2, an orange short hair tabby, a final comb out prior to cat judging
Saturday at the Porter County Fair. Ringas is a member of the Lakeshore
Drifters 4-H Club and attends Chesterton High School.
