Reserve Grand Champions: Pictured left to right are Liberty Hot Shot 4-H
members Sarah Copley and Erin Caldwell. Copley received her Reserve Grand
Champion award for playing a viola solo in the 4-H music recital. Caldwell
was named Reserve Grand Champion for her music poster.
Champions: Pictured left to right, Rickie Olson and T. J. Lawrence
received several awards. In Photography, Olson received A Honor in Beginners
and Lawrence, who received A Honor Champion will go to State Fair with his
entry in the beginner division. Olson also received Dog Reserve Grand
Champion for Junior Showmanship and Dog Reserve Grand Champion for
Obedience. Lawrence was Grand Champion in Dog Obedience and Showmanship in
Junior Division.
Reserve Champion Pigeons: Lori Uskert shows her Black Russian Tumbler
that won Reserve Champion. The bird was born in December. This is the third
time Uskert’s pigeons have earned the Reserve Champ title. She also received
a Reserve Champion ribbon in Intermediate Cake Decorating and an A grade in
Gift Wrapping. She is a member of Liberty Hot Shots 4-H Club.
Receive Honors at Porter County Fair: Twin sisters, left to right,
Shannon and Danielle Anderson, of Porter, took home A honor grades in
Aquatic Science and Foods, respectively. Shannon also received a B grade in
Music and an A in Latch Hook, while Danielle received an A in Cake
Decorating and a B in Photography. The three year veterans belong to the Wombears
4-H Club.
Receive A Honors in Drawing: Left to right, Lyndee Bobrowski shows her
pencil drawing entitled “Summer Memories” and Anna Bobrowski shows her
drawing entitled “Things I Like.” Lyndee also received an A Honor for her
golden Wyndotte hen and an A grade in miscellaneous craft. Anna also
received an A Honor in miscellaneous crafts and an A grade in Legos.
Middle Row Left to Right:
Champions in gardening: Alison Bobrowski and Andrew Bobrowski each took
Champion in 4-H gardening. Andrew is showing his prize cucumbers, green
peppers and squash. Alison shows her prize green peppers, squash, green
beans and pickles. He also was Reserve Champion for his Hockey Puck Candle
and got a B grade for Legos. Alison also won Reserve Grand Champion in Cats
and received A grades in gardening and flowers. They belong to Jackson
Volunteers 4-H Club.
Future chefs: Three members of the Wombears
4-H Club proudly pause by the Food Display where they received honors for
their baking. Left to right are Hannah Holmes-Robbins, who was Reserve
Champion for her onion rolls, Calla Holmes-Robbins, who received an A grade
for Cranberry Muffins and Erin Anderson who received a B grade for her Fudge
Cake. Hanna also received A grades in Home Made Toys and Music and a B grade
in Flowers. Calla was Reserve Champion in Electric, Music and Home Made Toys
and received an A grade in flowers. Erin received an A grade in photography
and her flowers will go to State Fair with an A Honorable Mention.
Champion quilter: Elysse Levi shows her Quilt that received an A Honor
Champion grade at the Porter County Fair. This first year 4-H member also
received an A grade in Cake Decorating and B in Drawing. She is a member of
Liberty Hot Shots 4-H Club.
Champions: Pictured left to right are Abby Lindstedt and Eva Thomas,
showing their projects. Lindstedt received Champion for Creative Writing and
Thomas for Personality. Lindstedt said she wrote lyrics to a song and
birthday card greetings. She also received an A grade in Drawing. Thomas has
a wall hanging for Home Environment that will go to State Fair. They are
members of Lakeshore Drifters 4-H Club.
Tweety-Bird wrapping wins Honorable Mention: Mary Jane Steele received an
Honorable Mention for Gift Wrapping with her Tweety-Bird theme. She also got
an A grade for Pre Veterinarian, and in Baking for her applesauce muffin.
She is a member of Jackson Volunteers and served as a hostess Thursday in
the 4-H Exhibit Hall.
Bottom Row Left to Right:
Going to State Fair: Clay Thomas will go
to State Fair with his Championship poster for Shooting Sports and for his
Grand Champion presentation in Computers. The Westchester Intermediate
School student gave a Power Point Presentation in Computers. Thomas is in
Lakeshore Drifters 4-H Club.
Wins First Place in Color Variety: John Denfeld Jr. holds Tiny, a broken
Mini-Rex rabbit who won first place for color variety at the Porter County
Fair. John is a first year member of Wombears 4-H Club.
My Pet and Me: Tim Denfeld, a 4-H Explorer, shows his Champion rated poster exhibit for My Pet
and Me.
