--Record Breaker Eggs: The Grand Champion Eggs where purchased for more than $1,000 at Thursday’s 4-H Celebration Auction at the Porter County Fair. Pictured are Justin Reed, a 4-H member of Jackson Volunteers, and buyer Fred Pressell of Century 21 Estates of Valparaiso. The dozen eggs where donated back to Justin and his family, his parents are James and Jeanne Reed.

--Local Supporters of 4-H: R.V. Sutton Excavating of Liberty Township purchased the Reserve Champion Semmental Steer from 4-H member Stephanie Chaplin at last night’s 4-H Auction at the Porter County Fair. Pictured with the steer from left to right are purchasers Nancy, Spencer and Rudy Sutton along with steer owners Christopher and Stephanie Chaplin. The Steer was purchased for $1.25 per pound.

--Purchases Champion Meat Geese: Local buyers and Duneland community members, Bob and Vicki Rhoda purchased the Champion Meat Geese from the Livestock Auction at the Porter County Fair 4-H auction Thursday evening. Pictured left to right are 4-H Achievement King Brandon Crombs, geese owners Lindsay and Rob Summa, and purchasers Vicki and Bob Rhoda who purchased the geese duo for $350.

--Local Buyer: Bonnie Swarner of Loomis Spectacle Boat Rental Inc. in Liberty Township purchased the Reserve Champion White Turkey at the Annual 4-H Celebration Auction at the Porter County Fair. Pictured right of Bonnie is the owner of the turkey Brandon Reeve. The turkey was purchased for $300.

--Champion Meat Ducks: Amanda Tofte-Patrick. a member of the Jackson Volunteers 4-H Club, shows off her champion meat ducks in the show ring at the Porter County Fair. The Annual Celebration Auction took place on Thursday evening. Amanda's buyer was Howe Insurance of Monon, Ind, and the ducks where purchased for $450.

--Preparing for Auction: Jeanne Bullock of Chesterton stands outside the lamb and sheep barn before getting dressed for the show ring. Jeanne is showing her 1st and 2nd place lambs at the Thursday evening 4-H Livestock Auction. The lambs were sold for $3.75 and $3.00 per pound. Jeanne also displayed goats at this year’s fair. --Three to get ready: The Lutze family of Jackson Township was fully represented at this year’s 4-H Fair. All three Lutze siblings exhibited in the Sheep Project. Here Katrina, 16, Elena, 12 and Matthew, 9, prepare their sheep for the 4-H Celebration Auction Thursday evening. The trio are all 4-H members with the Jackson Volunteers. Katrina earned Reserve Champion Royale Lamb Carcass in the Sheep Project. Parents are Mark Lutze and Hilda Demuth-Lutze.
