Showing Goat: Brittney Biddle and her goat Milk Dud prepare for the 4-H
Auction on Thursday evening in the Goat Barn. The goat was auctioned for
$500 to Peterson Family Farms, H&P Sales and Round Grove Farm Center North. Brittneys parents are Dean and Penny.
50 years of 4-H: Jeanne Bullock of Chesterton is shown with her Reserve
Champion Heavyweight cross black face sheep preparing for the 4-H Livestock
Auction. Jeanne also showed many goats including at Reserve Champion meat
goat and a Reserve Champion royal carcas. Her grandfather is Butch Chaplin,
her mother Jennifer and aunt Tammy all of Chesterton total at least 50 years
as members in the 4-H organization. Dr. Douglas Zale purchased the sheep for
$3 lb.
Supreme Champion Heifer: Christopher Chaplin is shown all smiles with his
2 time winner Supreme Champion Heifer and Champion Commercial Heifer which
was honored on Wednesday at the 4-H Cattle Beef Show. Christopher also
showed an angus and a short horn at the 4-H Livestock Auction on Thursday
evening. The reserve champion shorthorn was purchased by local buyer R.V.
Sutton of Liberty Township for $1.75 per pound. Christopher’s parents are
Jim and Beth.
Local Buyers: R.V. Sutton Excavating of Liberty Township purchased a
Champion All Other Breed Swine at the Livestock Auction at the Porter County
Fair on Thursday evening. Pictured left to right are Porter County Fair
Queen Katie Schultz, sellers Jenna and Jordan Jessen, buyers Rudy, Spencer
and Nancy Sutton and 4-H Queen Randi Potts. The swine was purchased for
$3.25 per pound.
4-H Livestock Celebration Sale: Amanda Tofte-Patrick of Jackson Township
shows off her award winning swine in the show ring on Thursday evening at
the Porter County Fair. Amanda is a 7th grader at CMS and a 4 year 4-H
member. Howe Crop Insurance of Monon, Indiana, purchased her swine at $3.50
per pound. Amanda’s parents are Dennis and Kelly.
