The single bright spot for Republicans in the races in which Dunelanders voted on Tuesday was the re-election of incumbent State Rep. Ed Soliday to his 4th District seat in the Indiana House.

Soliday beat off a challenge by Democrat Greg Simms, taking 52 percent of the vote to Simms’ 48 percent.

Meanwhile, Democrat incumbent Scott Pelath easily won re-election to his 9th District seat in the Indiana House.

Pelath trounced Republican Dan Granquist, taking 70 percent of the vote to Granquist’s 30 percent.
