Jon Snyder of Portage has announced that he will run as a Republican
candidate for Porter County Assessor.
In a press release, Snyder said he has been a small business owner in Porter
County for nearly 10 years and has been a state-certified appraiser for 12
years. He recently completed the Level I and II appraiser assessor course
offered by the state and now holds the certification.
“Jon Snyder believes in a business approach to the people’s business when it
comes to the Office of Assessor. The office needs to be reformed and Jon
Snyder believes he has the experience and the qualifications to help reform
Porter County government and the office of assessor,” states a press release
issued Thursday.
Snyder’s announcement creates a Republican party primary for assessor; Gail
Hudson earlier filed for the post, now held by Democrat John Scott, who is
not seeking re-election. On the Democrat ticket, Maureen “Moe” Wendrickx has
filed.
