3 to vie for state rep seat

Back to Front Page

The filing for the vacant 10th District State Representative seat ended this morning, with no new candidates other than the three who have already filed.

The contenders are Robert Poparad of Burns Harbor and Duneland’s representative on the Porter County Council; Greg Simms of Valparaiso and a member of the Porter County Board of Zoning Appeals; and Chuck Moseley of Portage, a former Portage Township School Board member.

Indiana Democrat Party Chair Dan Parker will chair the caucus set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Portage City Hall. Democrat precinct committee members from the 10th district will meet to fill the vacancy, which was created with the recent death of Jack Clem, who was appointed to the seat in July.
