A Hebron woman was being held without bond at the Porter County Jail in connection with the shooting death of a Hebron man on Sunday, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.

Karen Anne Sons, 55, is facing a preliminary charge of murder.

According to police, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday officers responded to the residence of Robert Head, 54, at 14 California Ave. in the Lake Eliza area of Porter Township, for a well-being check. On their arrival they found Head deceased.

“Investigators worked throughout the afternoon yesterday and all through the night speaking to neighbors,” the PCSP said on Monday. They also interviewed Sons, who police described as “the only other occupant of the residence where Head resided.”

Sons was subsequently taken into custody.

Coroner Chuck Harris, in a separate release, said that an autopsy conducted on Monday determined the cause of death to be a single gunshot wound.

No other information was available this morning. Police said that the investigation is ongoing.
