Walmart in Valpo robbed on Sunday

Valparaiso Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the man who robbed the Walmart at 2400 E. Morthland Ave. on Sunday.

According to police, at 7:44 a.m. a man approached the Customer Service counter and passed a note to the clerk demanding money and indicating that the suspect was in possession of a gun. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of money, police said.

The suspect was last seen walking through the parking lot in the direction of the Steak & Shake.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6’ 0’’ in height and 190 pounds in weight, wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, and glasses, police said.

Anyone with information about the robber or the robbery is asked to call the VPD at (219) 462-2135 or else text Tip411 (847-411) after placing the key word “Valpo” in the message field prior to sending the tip.

The VPD continues to investigate the incident.
