Charges of burglarly are pending against a 22 year-old Crown Point resident
who was taken into custody early Friday after allegedly breaking into a home
in the the 200 block of Chestnut Street, Valparaiso Police said.
According to police, at approximately 2:40 a.m. a resident advised she was
awakened by a bell attached to her front door and heard footsteps walking
accross her floor. She called police who subsequently found that a glass
pane was missing from the front door, police said.
While searching the home, police said they heard a subject in the backyard
and located him in the alleyway directly behind the residence.
The subject admitted during an interview with police that he broke into the
home while walking in the area, police said.
He was transported to Porter County Jail.
