A Valparaiso resident died from injuries after losing control of his vehicle
on Saturday in the area of Indiana 2 and County Road 350 South in Porter
Township, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.
According to police, at 10:25 p.m. Jonathan Knopf, 20, was southbound on
Indiana 2 when the Buick passenger vehicle he was driving went off the
roadway and rolled over on its roof.
Knopf was transported to St. Anthony’s in Crown Point where he later died
from his injuries sustained in the crash, police said. Alcohol is believed
to be a factor in the crash, police said, and toxicology tests will be
performed by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Two passengers, a 17 year-old and an 18 year-old, sustained minor injuries
in the crash, police said.
