U.S. Steel
Corporation (USS) released a statement this morning in response to the U.S.
Department of Commerce's finding that Chinese steel imports finished in
Vietnam are subject to U.S. antidumping and countervailing duty orders,
following a circumvention petition filed by domestic steelmakers in
September 2016.
As a result of this
decision, U.S. importers of cold-rolled and galvanized steel from Vietnam
made from Chinese substrate must make cash deposits under the applicable
orders.
“We applaud
Secretary Ross’ final circumvention decision, which represents the
Administration’s full commitment to using all tools available to combat
unfair trade and restore a level playing field for the domestic steel
industry,” USS said.
