Two semi crash in I65 closes southbound lanes

One trucker rear-ended another on Friday on I-65 in Lake County, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 7 p.m. trucker Jennifer M. Buchholz, 36, of Brownsville, Wis., was southbound on I-65, near the 239 mile marker, when for unknown reasons she ran into the back of a second semi-tractor trailer, driven by Tolla Ayana Burayou, 31, of Minneapolis, Minn.

Burayou’s Freightliner and its trailer overturned onto their passenger’s side and left the roadway on the outer shoulder, police said. Buchholz’s Kenworth stayed upright, coming to rest on the outer shoulder as well, police said.

Burayou and Buchholz—who were both wearing seatbelts—were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The southbound lanes of I-65 at the 240 mile marker were completed closed until the early morning on Saturday, police said.
