A Porter woman and
a Valparaiso woman died over the weekend, following a two-vehicle accident
in Branch County, Mich., the Michigan State Police said.
The victims were
identified as Corrinne Johns, 23, of Porter; and Alexis Schroeder, 19, of
Valparaiso.
According to
police, at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, Schroeder was driving a 2008
Chevrolet Cobalt, southbound on M-66, just south of Athens, Mich., when for
an unknown reason she failed to yield for a flashing red light at the
intersection of M-60, where the Cobalt was broadsided by a semi-tractor
trailer westbound on M-60.
Johns was
pronounced dead at the scene, police said; Schroeder died of her injuries on
Sunday in a Kalamazoo. Mich., hospital.
