An early morning roll-over on Friday caused a semi to lose its load of paper, temporarily closing the ramp from the Indiana Toll Road to eastbound I-80/94 in Lake County, the Indiana State Police said.

According to police, at 6:50 a.m. trucker Andriy I. Burych, 28, of Hamtramck, Mich., was on the Toll Road ramp to go east on I-80/94 when he braked sharply for a passenger vehicle. Burych lost control of his rig, veered right, and rolled over.

Burych’s box trailer was loaded with 42,000 pounds of paper garbage en route from Minneapolis, Minn., to Webberville, Mich. Part of his load was lost in the grassy median and the top of his box trailer split open, police said.

The ramp was closed off and on until 9:20 a.m., for off-loading of the paper, up-righting of the semi and trailer.

Burych--who was not injured--was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision and was placed out of service for non-English speaking commercial motor vehicle driver, police said.
