Three persons were injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Broadway and North Jackson Blvd., Chesterton Police said.

According to police, at 5:10 p.m. Colleen M. Dumelle, 45, of Chesterton, was southbound on North Jackson Blvd. when she proceeded from the stop sign at Broadway--incorrectly believing it to be a four-way stop--and collided with a second vehicle westbound on Broadway.

The driver of the second vehicle was Arianna C. Hall, 16, of Porter.

Dumelle complained of head pain and Hall of leg pain, while Hall’s passenger, Dana Nalley, 67, sustained an injury to her arm. Hall and Nalley were transported to hospital, police said.

“There are numerous ‘Cross Traffic Does Not Stop’ signs posted for north- and southbound traffic,” police noted.

Police estimated total damage to Dumelle’s 2006 Ford Expedition and Hall’s 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt at up to $25,000.
