From the Indiana State Police, 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 5:
As daylight changes to dusk then darkness, temperatures are falling in the
area. Conditions in the Lowell State Police District which includes Lake,
Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski and Starke Counties are as follows.
Road conditions on I-65 and I-80/94 are wet, and snow covered in areas with
bridges and overpasses starting to become slick as the temperatures drop.
US, State and County roads are becoming snow covered and slick due to the
change over from a wintery mix to snow. Troopers have covered a number of
crashes and slide-offs since early afternoon.
Motorist should use caution when commuting back to their home from work this
evening. Leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the one in front of
you. Slow down and give yourself plenty of time to get home. Avoid travel if
it is not necessary.
