Lowell State Police District-State troopers are busy working crashes and slide offs. The rain has turned into a wintery mixture of ice and snow across Northwest Indiana.

Most of the crashes are occurring on I-80/94 in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties

Region residents are urged not to drive unless necessary and to be extra careful for the remainder of today.

The State Police ask that all drivers remember to reduce speed and increase following distance during the inclement weather.
