Two Lake County residents were arrested Thursday on a charge of burglary after a Woodlawn Ave. resident found them in his home and confronted them, Porter Police said.

Jose Miguel Rocha-Leal, 41, of Schererville, and Juan Ramon Martinez-Villarreal, 45, of Gary, were each charged with one count of burglary, a Class B felony punishable by a term of six to 20 years.

According to the PPD, at 1:56 p.m. a man arrived home to find a strange truck parked in his driveway. He parked his own vehicle behind it, blocking it in, then discovered that his front door had been forced open and on entering his home heard voices from the basement, the PPD said.

The man subsequently confronted Rocha-Leal and Martinez-Villarreal as they were coming up the basement stairs, the PPD said.

Both Porter and Chesterton officers responded to the scene and took the two into custody. U.S. currency, collectable coins, and earrings belonging to the homeowner were found on the pairís person and in their vehicle, the PPD said.

Rocha-Leal and Martinez-Villarreal were transported to Porter County Jail.
