On Oct. 30, the Indiana Jail Overcrowding Task Force received an in-depth tour of the Porter County Jail, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police is reporting.

In particular, the Task Force toured PCJ’s Therapeutic Community and Biblical Life Principles population areas.

Indiana Supreme Court Justice Steven David called the programming and facilities at PCJ “nothing short of extraordinary” at a subsequent hearing at Ivy Tech.

“It was a tremendous honor to be not only recognized by this State Overcrowded Task Force as a model jail in our State, but to be lauded by two Indiana Supreme Court Justices and the Executive Director of the Department of Corrections as doing exemplary work, recognizing the programs and my staff was very humbling and gratifying,” Sheriff Dave Reynolds said.
