The Porter County Sheriff’s Police has released the numbers on the multi-agency saturation patrol in Burns Harbor on Thursday, May 19, when the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club was in town for a charity fundraiser at the Mill Bar & Grill at 295 Melton Road.

The Hells Angels, for the record, is classified as an “outlaw motorcycle gang” (OMG) by a 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment prepared by the FBI.

Sixty-five traffic stops were performed on motorcycles and passenger vehicles during the course of the six-hour patrol, in which approximately 60 officers participated from 11 different law-enforcement agencies.

Those 65 stops produced 21 citations; 53 written warnings; six arrests; and four impounds.

The purpose of the patrol, Sheriff Dave Reynolds said at the time: “to maintain a police presence to deter any criminal activity in order to maintain the safety and security for the citizens of Porter County.”
