A Valparaiso man was in custody this morning at the Porter County Jail after two girls younger than 15 and a young woman accused him of inappropriate sexual contact, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police said.

Formal charges against Todd Lange, 47, were expected later today.

According to police, on Tuesday PCSP detectives were investigating a complaint made by the three against Lange when they received information from a family member that he was threatening to harm himself with a box cutter.

Detectives, assisted by the PCSP Flex Team, were subsequently able to locate Lange, using cell phone GPS coordinates, in the basement of a residence in the 100 south block of Ind. 2 in Porter Township, police said.

Lange was found with “deep lacerations” to his forearms, near his wrists, which were “bleeding profusely,” police said.

Lange was transported to Porter Memorial Hospital for treatment of “his self-inflicted injuries,” then to PCJ.
