Information was sketchy this morning on an injury sustained on Saturday by a
Hobart teen on a midway ride at the Porter County Fair.
According to the Porter County Sheriff’s Police, at 11:37 p.m. officers and
EMS personnel responded to the “Starship” ride, where they found an
unresponsive 15-year-old boy on the ground.
Police said that “people were stabilizing his neck” and that the boy was
“only able to respond to questions by blinking or moving his eyes.”
The boy was subsequently transported to Porter Regional Hospital.
“Witnesses stated that the teenager hit his head somehow on the ‘Starship’
ride while it was in motion and had to be carried off the ride by ride
operators,” police said.
No further information was available today on the boy’s condition.
