A Porter man died after collapsing while running on Sunday at Indiana Dunes State Park, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said.

The deceased was identified as Danny H. Norris, 65.

At approximately 9 a.m., DNR said, Norris was jogging with friends when he grabbed his chest and fell forward in the snow. Friends began to administer CPR until EMS personnel, assisted by the Porter Fire Department, arrived at the scene. “Attempts were made to resuscitate Norris before he was pronounced dead” at Porter hospital, DNR said.

Porter Assistant Fire Chief Jay Craig told the Chesterton Tribune today that the incident occurred on the road in front of the campground. The PFD cleared the scene at 9:50 a.m.
