A Portage resident has been charged in the December 2013 robbery of Little Caesar’s Pizza at 6321 Central Ave., Portage Police said.

According to police, at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday Brian L. Cox, 37, of 300 Jacobs Place, was found at a residence in Hobart by Hobart Police after obtaining a warrant based on information provided by a tipster.

Police said that, when officers arrived at the residence, Cox fled and was dropped off in the area of CR 700N and County Line Road by an uninvolved person.

Cox was subsequently located in a driveway just south of Ind.130 by Porter County Sheriff’s Police officers and was taken into custody by Portage Police officers, police said.

Cox was transported to Porter County Jail after being questioned by Portage PD, police said. He was charged with robbery, a Class C felony punishable by a term of two to eight years.

“I would like to thank all of those involved from the tipster, to both the Hobart Police and Porter County Sheriff’s Department, and finally the officers and detectives of the Portage Police Department,” Portage Police Chief Troy Williams said. “We will continue to pursue any and all suspects who think they can commit a crime in our city without a response whether immediate or after a long-term investigation. We are committed to bringing all suspects to justice and are thankful that our community is in this fight with us.”
