A Valparaiso resident escaped serious injury on Monday after his pickup
truck rolled on I-65 in Starke County, the Indiana State Police said.
According to police, at 8:54 a.m. Christopher Bradley, 35, was southbound on
I-65, just south of the Fair Oaks exit at the 220 mile marker, when he
swerved to avoid something in the road. Bradley then lost control of his
1993 GMC Sonoma, left the roadway to the left, over-corrected, and then
rolled, police said.
“The bed of the pickup came off the chassis and separated from the cab as it
rolled again and went off the road to the right,” police said.
Bradley was wearing a seatbelt, which police said may have reduced the
severity of his injuries.
He was transported to Jasper County Hospital with a complaint of pain.
The pickup was a total loss.
